Extremely rare; I haven't seen one of these, for sale or not, in nearly fifty years. This is the original Gibson larger-bodied, high-end acoustic guitar, the early version before they gussied it up with a scroll in the body. If you were in an orchestra, perhaps a mandolin orchestra, that wanted a guitar, and you could afford it, this was THE one. In remarkably intact condition, 100% solid and 100% playable, it is something to hold and to behold. Stamped onto the neck block, way inside and you gotta look hard to find it, are The Gibson in their wonderful hundred-year-old script logo form, and beneath it ORDER NO 24(?). Fabulous stuff, rarely seen. Slotted peghead, standard for the day and still with its original tuning machines; ebony bridge with original bone saddle still at its original uncut height and all of its original inlaid bridge pins; ebony fingerboard with perfect modern refret by I-have-no-idea-whom (and way better than the original frets). There is only one nearly invisible top crack, expertly repaired and cleated along with a thin bridge plate reinforcement, I'm willing to bet by the same very professional hand that did the frets. I needn't go on more about this extraordinary piece. I cannot imagine ever finding another and if so, not in this unusually intact and playable condition. And it is LOUD. A true, top collectors' item. Comes with modern hard shell case. $20,000 w/hsc
