Here we have an 89-91 Charvel Fusion Deluxe in Flour White. I believe this to be an 89 or 90 because everyone I have seen known to be a 91 had offset fret marker dots. Firstly, these models are 24 3/4" with 24 frets and I think it is the only Japanese made Charvel with these specs. Also it should be said that the dinky body style on this guitar is slightly smaller than the standard dinky body. I put a ruler across the body in the photos to give you an idea of the differences.
Condition
- This guitar has a lot of small dents, bumps and bruises that you might expect from a 35 year old guitar that was played a bit, but the guitar is still very presentable. It doesn't look beat to hell in my opinion.
- There was a break at the 6th string tuner, a small corner piece broke off and was correctly glued back in place (see photos) and there are no other issues with it.
- The frets are in very good condition with very minimal wear (see photos).
- There are 2 small dents in the fret board (see photos).
- 3 of the dust caps on the tuner are missing, but the tuners function perfectly.
- Varies nicks and light scratching and small indentations on the body (see photos).
Set-up
- I tried to show the string height in the photos, this picture is hard to take but the photos shows what I am seeing when measuring the string height.
- Bass side between point 1.25 and 1.50mm at 12th fret.
- Treble side is right at 1.50mm at the 12th fret.
- This guitar is not intonated properly most of the strings need to be intonated. It is playable but they need adjustment and I do not plan to do that.
- Truss rod is tight but it functions
- The neck is not twisted from what I can tell
Pickups
- The neck pickup is the original Jackson J-200R
- The bridge pickup is a Jackson J-80. Everything I have read says that it originally came with a Jackson J-90C so I don't know if it is original but it looks period correct (see photos).
This guitar plays ok but it is hard for me to tell because I play 50's style necks and this neck feels so thin but I do think that the bass strings passed the 16th fret could ring out a little better. They're not completely choking out but I feel that they could be better. It really just needs a set up.
There is no case or gig bag included, but the original tremolo bar will be included. It will ship, packed well in a standard guitar box. If you have any questions, please contact me. Thanks for looking
