Up for sale, a 1970s Roland System-100 Model-101 analog synthesizer in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original carrying case. Produced from 1975-79 and used by artists including Aphex Twin and Tears for Fears, the System-100 was a semi-modular five-piece synthesizer. This particular component is the Model-101 Synthesizer, the heart of the System-100, which is a full self-contained analog monophonic synth with great sonic flexibility and a classic warm ‘70s-style Roland sound.

The Model-101 features a 37-note keyboard, with a full bank of sliders to control the wide array of features including the VCO, LFO, VCF lowpass/highpass filters, VCA with ADSR, Noise, Portamento/Glide, and more, logically configured from left to right. There’s also an A-440Hz tuning oscillator, like on a Minimoog, Glide Manual button, and a flashing LFO Frequency indicator LED. There are CV and Trigger I/O ports on the top of the enclosure, and while this unit is internally patched, there are a handful of optional external patch ports for alternate signal paths.

Freshly serviced by Synapse Audio Systems to ensure optimal functionality, this Roland necessitated only a few new capacitors. The keys are flat with an even response and sparingly little yellowing of the key caps, and every original slider cap and knob is present. The graphics are pristine save for a couple minor scuffs. The enclosure is well-built, with aluminum end caps, and there is similarly restrained wear on the unit as a whole as pictured.

The original hardshell case with Roland badging is included.
