Simmons Rick Allen's Def Leppard, Hysteria Tour, Drum Set and Rack 1986-1987 - Black/Silver

Def Leppard is HUGE!! From humble beginnings in Sheffield, England in 1976, over 100 million albums later the band is selling out stadiums worldwide. One of few bands to earn an RIAA Diamond Award for 10 million albums sold. TWICE!!

We’re thrilled to present the Def Leppard collection!! The collection includes hundreds of stage and tour used items from each member of Def Leppard. This massive collection includes items from every era of the band's 5 decade career.

Rick Allen played this Simmons drum set on Def Leppard's Hysteria tour circa 1987.

Following the loss of his left arm in a 1983 car crash, Rick completely reinvented the way he played the drums. He learned to play all the parts previously played with his left hand, with his left foot. He used a series of custom pedals with his left foot to electronically trigger sounds he would have otherwise played with a drumstick in his left hand. It took several years of practice as well as years of experimenting with different electronic drum configurations. In 1987 he returned to the stage with Def Leppard for the most triumphant come-back in the history of Rock 'n' Roll.

Rick's unique drumming and drum set have never stopped growing and evolving. This Simmons drum set is the first set in his lifetime evolution following the accident that would have ended most drummers careers.

This set is one of two, identical sets that were custom built for Rick during his reinvention years (the other set is currently part of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame collection). The set includes the custom rack and all of the Simmons components visible in the photos. Rick Allen played this set on Def Leppard's 1987 Hysteria tour.
