Up for sale is a 1943 Martin 00-17 in incredible, crack-free condition! Check out the included demo video.

This is a gem of a wartime Martin guitar that has been preserved remarkably well for the last 80 years. I’ve had a couple other wartime and prewar all-mahogany Martins, and they are consistently beautiful-sounding, dynamic guitars with impressive low end and a unique richness in the mids and trebles. Each note seems to bloom as it leaps off the soundboard.

This ‘43 has only minor nicks and dings across the surface, but no cracks or other damage of any kind. It has a new compensated bone saddle installed by luthier Mike Weems after he performed an expert neck reset and fret dress.

This is one of very few prewar/wartime 00-17s that were made with 3-on-a-plate tuners at the factory. When I got the guitar, some of the gears and peened barrels were mismatched; I’m not sure Martin would have done this themselves, so it’s likely that a few components of the original tuners had been replaced. I decided to have those tuners swapped out for another set of 3-on-a-plate tuners taken from another one of these extremely uncommon ‘40s 00-17s (a project guitar), so the current tuners are the appropriate age and style. They feature very cool black plastic tuning buttons, which I’ve seen on a few other 00-17s from this era before. The nut width is 1 11/16”, and the playability is excellent. It is a collector’s item that is ready to play!

Asking $6,500 plus shipping for this EXC condition 00-17. Comes with what I believe to be the original case.
