Offered is this very special OM from the Martin Custom Shop. This guitar emanated from a recent "Martin Experience" event in which the builder showcases the work that the Martin Custom Shop is capable of. The first time I tried this guitar it floored me with it's clear tone and presence. I was expecting the tone of a Martin Spruce/Mahogany 000-sized guitar and what I got was much more and much different! This guitar has a Carpathian Spruce top combined with figured Bubinga for the back and sides. The combination results in a tone which is much more like Spruce/Rosewood or perhaps Spruce/Koa to my ear with lots of balance, clarity and output. Bubinga is a very hard tonewood like rosewood, but is much finer of grain without the porous surface. As such, it provides a great foundation for tone, doesn't require the finish filler and looks splendid as well. Besides this unique tonewood combination, Martin also gave this guitar: scalloped 2.5" Sitka Golden Era bracing; aging toner for the top; Rosewood binding; Maple/fiber top inlay; a three ring herringbone rosette; Golden Era herringbone purfling; a full thickness neck made of solid Spanish Cedar with a vintage style heel; a Black Ebony fretboard with 12" radius, 1.75" bone nut and 25.340" scale length; a Black Ebony bridge with a compensated drop-in bone saddle and 2.25" string spacing; aged Waverly tuners; and top-of-the-line Geib style case. I love the relatively big neck on this guitar and it is so well balanced in it's tone and output that I think it would make a great stage guitar. This guitar came with a suggested retail of $6K, but you can get this as new beauty for half that sum. I cannot offer a warranty because I am not an authorized dealer, but otherwise you are getting a new and quite unique Martin instrument. This one will both surprise and please you!
