This is a highly desirable George Harrison spec 1962 Country Gentleman (Serial # 7055). All original!
I purchased this guitar from a collection held back from a guitar store owner that closed their doors. This guitar was stored in a case since 1997 before I adopted it. It is very difficult to find them this early. Double red felt mutes, stair-step Grover Imperial tuners, walnut finish, gold hardware, ebony fingerboard, Bigsby, two Filtertron pickups. Everything was serviced by a guitar shop in Indianapolis. The repair and service records will come with the guitar.
All the pickups, pots, switches, mutes, and other hardware is original and works as intended. The original case is included.
It is widely documented that early Gretsch binding deteriorates, and due to the age of the guitar, the binding is brittle on this guitar, too. The gas from the binding has caused some tarnishing on the Bigsby and pickup covers. Because of this, I have discounted the price of the guitar. The binding can be replaced by a luthier.
Another ‘62 is for sale in a Kansas Vintage shop with serial number only 3 numbers lower is selling for $9799. Their guitar does have binding issues, so my guitar is priced accordingly.
Truly a great-playing guitar. It sounds great too. Here is your chance to get an exact Beatle-spec '62 Gretsch Country Gent in beautiful condition!
