For your consideration, used 2013 Gibson LPJ, in Chocolate. The LPJ series was one of Gibsons attempts at an affordable guitar that shared appointments of their more expensive Les Paul models.
Chambered Mahogany body, Maple cap, Maple neck with Rosewood board, Trapezoid inlays, but no frills. No binding, black plastic covered 498 pickups, plug-in component wiring, and a very basic finish. The finish is very thin, organic feeling, as a result instantly becomes "reliced" looking when held.
The 2013 model feature a '58 neck profile, a bit more chunky than a '59. The neck shaft is maple, with a little flame in it. This one has had the fretboard edges rolled, feels good and broken in.
Here's the list of modifications:
Custom pinstripe applied by Mr. Chip's Custom Pinstripe and Paint. Clip is renowned for his art work, has met Billy Gibbons, knew what I was after. The pinstripe paint applied is cream with micro gold fleck mixed in to tone it down. Then it was aged (finely sanded) to match the natural looking Chocolate finish.
The guitar weighs only 7.7lbs and rings out nicely. Rarely played, minimal fret wear, natural and encouraged relicing with custom pinstripes, this guitar looks great. The Callaham components combined with the VIP cryo-pickups and bone nut really bring out the voice of this guitar. The muffed tone sometimes associated with humbucker pickups is nonexistent. Currently strung with Ernie Ball 10/52 nickel strings.
The asking price is well below what has been invested. A lot of fun, this is a great player for sure. Guitar will be carefully double boxed. Thank you for looking!
