About This Listing

The Seymour Duncan SJM-1 Vintage Jazzmaster Neck pickup. FREE shipping in the USA!

Application
Vintage correct single-coil Jazzmaster® pickup. Recommended for country, pop, surf, blues, jazz and classic rock.

Description
Introduced in 1957 to provide a mellow sound for jazz players, surf guitarists were soon using this cool guitar and pickup combination. Every detail in sound, construction and appearance is faithfully duplicated in this vintage pickup. Output is moderate; and mids and highs are boosted. Comes with waxed cloth hookup cable. Does not include a cover.

Complete setup
Available in a matched neck and bridge set. The neck version is reverse wound/reverse polarity (RW/RP) to create a humbucking effect when used together with the bridge model.

Guitars
For warmer toned ash, alder or basswood body instruments. Works especially well with rosewood fingerboards.

About the Guitars: We used all brand new medium-weight Japanese-made instruments with basswood bodies and rosewood boards and a fresh set of American Flyer 10-46 gauge strings. We kept the pickup-to-string heights consistent between each change of pickups.

About the Amps: We employed the "highest common denominator" philosophy in our amp selection. For clean tones, we used a silverface Fender Super Reverb with stock 4x10 "blue frame" speakers. We kept the Bright Switch "On" throughout. For crunch tones, we used a well-worn Marshall JCM 800 50 watt master volume head through a new Marshall 1960A Celestion®-loaded 4x12 cabinet. We plugged into the High output. With both amps we close miked straight-on with SM-57s through a Soundcraft Spirit Folio Mixer.

These are the amp settings:

Returns:
Most pickups can't be returned once installed because of the installation process that requires soldering, etc. Seymour Duncan however offers a fantastic 21 Day Return Policy! Here's the details:
Seymour Duncan / Basslines offers our 21 Day Real World Exchange Policy on all new pickups purchased in the U.S. and some other participating countries, which states the following: If for any reason you're not satisfied with the pickup's sound or construction, return it and your receipt to your dealer, or direct to the factory within 21 days for exchange with another pickups of equal or lesser value. To do this, please just and include your invoice number and the new pickup you'd like to exchange towards.
