My loving take on the classic two transistor British fuzz unit with modern enhancements and my specially designed fuzz buffer. Expanded sonic range provides lower gain Silicon Fuzz Face tones all the way to ripping BC10xC tones.

The goal in taking the classic Fuzz Face circuit and modernizing it was to improve upon some of the idiosyncrasies of the circuit without altering the fundamental tone we all love.

That meant using modern PCB construction with proper layout and board grounding, best practice enclosure grounding and shielded wiring, modern, tight tolerance parts for consistency with low noise and consistent transistors and the development of a fuzz specific, and totally transparent, buffer/gain stage to drive the input of The Pompeii (and my other existing and future releases).

I've gotten a tremendous amount of feedback asking why you would want to buffer a Fuzz Face in particular, but low impedance, vintage-style fuzzes in general. The simple answer is: Freedom.

It provides a high impedance input, removing Placement issues and nullifying the ill effects of devices driving it. It tailors the output impedance of the buffer circuitry to drive the input of the classic Fuzz Face properly, eliminating Impedance issues that might otherwise hinder the "Full Up" fuzz tone, and most importantly, provides circuit specific frequency tailoring that preserves Dynamics, allowing for touch sensitivity and the classic Fuzz Face "cleanup" regardless of it's place in your chain.

That is the fundamental contribution of both my integrated buffers and the standalone buffer circuits. It gives you the freedom to try new and previously uncharted placements, to be free of RF Interference, and the freedom to use a circuit steeped in tradition, and previously accused of lacking innovation, in ways that have not been fully possible before.

While I firmly believe EVERYONE can love and enjoy my buffered fuzz devices, those using modern switchers, wireless units, active pickups or anyone just wanting to experiment with new and exciting Fuzz Face (and other vintage-style circuits) placements will feel at home with the new freedom the buffer offers.

This is a device for gigging and home players alike.

Some have asked if it's a solution in search of a problem and I'd counter that on the contrary, it's a solution TO many problems.
