1957 Harmony H-62

The H62 was one of Harmony’s top of the line archtops. It came stock with Gibson P-13 pickups (precursor to the P-90) and was quite the beast.

Very Good+ Condition
No issues, straight neck, huge tone
Original pink plush chipboard case is somewhat tattered but is stable enough to use for transporting the guitar
The guitar weighs 6lbs 8oz.

The neck has a very round and chunky C shaped profile that fills the palm with generous shoulders while still being very easy to chord. The profile measures .9" deep at the 1st fret, tapering to .99" at the 10th. The neck is 1.775" wide at the nut and 2.2" wide at the 12th fret. The Brazilian rosewood fretboard is a dark cut of this hallowed tone wood, bound and sporting pearloid block inlay. The original frets are just shy of medium jumbo with surprising width and crown, showing only light wear on frets 1-3 with virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The guitar plays well in every register with sweet, singing tones up the 25 1/4" scale. The nut is the original hand-carved piece of bone for optimal note clarity and sustain, measuring 1 3/4" in width. The "Harmony" logo and fleur de lis is cleanly inlaid on the Brazilian rosewood headstock veneer. The original Waverly tuning machines all turn smoothly and hold pitch well.

All of the electronics function as intended, with individual Volume and Tone controls for each pickup and the original brown "radio" knobs only seen on the earliest examples of the H62 model. The original transparent pickup rings (a very dark, nearly black looking tortoise), diamond switch surround, and long baton switch tip are intact, along with the very rare transparent red tortoise pickguard. The carved Brazilian rosewood bridge with bone saddle is original as well, along with the nickel harp tailpiece. The bridge has ample height, with room for adjustment on both thumbwheels. The H62 model stamp is visible through the F holes and inked on the inside back of the instrument along with the 1957 date stamp.
