About This Listing

This Elka Panther 300 was fully restored by the professionals at Bell Tone Synth Works and has been in our own collection in our studio for several years.

The Panther is unusually richly featured for a single-manual organ, and is unique for its ability to be both very aggressive and very mellow. Its oscillators start out with a lot of high harmonics and its vibrato is very deep and intense, but when filtered by the different tone switches, it can sound very sweet. Features include multiple vibrato options, 3 footages (octaves) per note with level mixer and selectable tone filters for each footage, “Mixture” option for unique harmonics / ring modulator-like sound, fully polyphonic bass section with optional extension for two octaves of bass (grey keys), and an interesting optically controlled feature called tone decay (subtle envelope applied to the mixture footages).

The video linked here is a demo we made of another organ of the same model that we sold, which has the same sounds and features.

ELECTRONICS RESTORED: This organ was in very rough shape when we got it but has since been fully restored inside and out. It has been given a full recap (ALL electrolytic capacitors replaced), all rocker switches have been cleaned and repaired as needed, all key contacts have been cleaned, straightened and/or repaired as needed for consistent response on all keys, incandescent indicator lamp has been replaced with an LED indicator and nonstandard power connector has been replaced with an IEC connector.

COSMETIC CONDITION:
The red top had to be intensively refinished as it appeared to have been damaged by both heat and chemicals when we got the organ.  We sanded it all down, filled in the cracks, gashes and holes with epoxy, sanded it all down again and repainted it. However, there are still a couple of small cracks surrounding some of the holes for the rocker switches. Because the new paint job had to cover up the original labeling for the knobs on the left, we re-labeled them with a label maker, white printing on clear which looks quite good, but not perfect. Some of the switches still have chemical staining on their surfaces, and there are a couple of keys that have melted spots on them from having lit cigarettes dropped on them, something we often see in organs for some reason!

We do not have the legs or suitcase lid for this organ, and because we do not have the lid to protect it in shipping, we really would prefer to sell it locally.
However, if you are interested and live within a couple hundred miles of Philadelphia PA, we might be willing to ship it to you. Contact us if this is the case.
