Up for sale is an E-mu Emulator EIII in amazing shape and fully functional condition. It has the original 8mb sample memory installed. The hard & floppy drives have been upgraded with a SD SCSI drive (scsi2Sd) which allows the machine to boot and load banks easily/quickly. The machine was last serviced a little over 4 years ago and has been a work horse ever since. It currently lives in a clean, climate-controlled studio where it stays safely covered when not in use. ***Local pickup is recommended but I will pack it extremely well and ship quickly.
** Upon arrival you may need to get inside the machine and make sure the boards are properly seated in their card slots and ribbon cables are tightly seated due to potential jarring during transit. Please make sure you have some basic skills to open a synth and reseat cables/boards if needed. The little bit of extra time to be sure everything is seated will assure the synth operates without issue because there are so many connections which can be compromised by the synth being jarred excessivly during transit. When carrying the synth you should always carry it with the keys facing up so that the motherboard cards naturally seat in their card slots via gravity.
All of my instruments are well maintained and thoroughly pampered. I hope this finds a good home but please, no returns, no sample stealing, renting, borrowing. This item can't be traveling back and forth so make sure you really want to own this amazing instrument before agreeing to purchase. I have a video of it working recently attached in the images, I’m only reluctantly selling to fund another large purchase. I would love you to come out and visit/play the syth here in NC if you could.
The SD drive is mounted in the location of the floppy disk as that was no longer being used since the upgrades and it allows easy access to the memory card for file transfers. I think there are around 58 banks from the floppy library loaded to the internal SCSI2SD drive in addition to over 30 amazing PPG banks and some others which I purchased so you can begin playing/recording ASAP. The cooling fans are upgraded with modern quiet Noctua branded pc fans which are high quality. The new fans move a lot of air and are much quieter while I’ve also modified them to hook into the factory harness.
This synth has some special history because it belonged to Lee Blaske where it lived at Flyte Tyme Studios. A collection of sample disks that came along with it were said to be from the studio however they're mostly the original EMU samples I believe. There were a few floppies that weren’t working when I tried to load everything but the majority of them are already loaded for you. The old floppy disk drive was actually an expensive new old stock Teak drive that I originally purchased for the synth and it will be included along with the floppies and original hard drive that was also fully functional. These few obsolete collectors’ pieces to go along with the EIII will be shipped separately to the new owner free of charge. I will also include a spare OLED display that I didn't want to install yet since the original display works fine.
The item will be packed very carefully to ensure a safe trip. It will ship promptly after receiving cleared payment. I will use Reverb's shipping service for added piece of mind. Shipping charges include Reverb insurance coverage. The sale is final with no returns, but I guarantee my description and pictures are accurate. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions.
