Solid-cherry, mint condition Mountain Dulcimer (made in 1979, #1303) by renowned maker Robert Mize of Blountville, Tennessee. The dulcimers of Robert Mize are treasured for their exquisite artistry and unequaled voice. One was presented to Mother Maybelle Carter in 1971, another is on display at The Tennessee State Museum, a third is at home in The Smithsonian Institution, and a number were presented to foreign dignitaries by the state of Tennessee. Robert Mize is legendary among dulcimer players and his dulcimers are an American treasure. This one is no exception, with its sweet lines and cherry tones and its alluring voice. The friction pegs are hand carved, in keeping with tradition. Though nearly 40 years old, it’s in almost new condition and appears to have been stored a lot more than played. It comes with the original case, handcrafted out of what looks to be solid cherry, as well as a handmade noter and the original instrument tag.
