Excellent working vintage 1950’s era Shure model 51 “Sonodyne” microphone in excellent working condition. This mic has been professionally inspected, cleaned and tested. The original dynamic element is still present and is providing strong, clear output. The mic comes with a 7 foot cable with a vintage 3 pin amphenol connector and a standard male XLR plug ready to connect to most any modern recording or mixing interface. The inside of the mic is clean and tight, with no loose or rattling parts. The Hi-Medium-Low impedance switch on the front of the mic works as it should and moves easily. The red silk screen on the front is in very good condition with no holes or tears. The original Shure badge is missing, but the blue Shure logo on the front is bright and clear. This mic can be attached to most any modern mic stand with a standard 5/8” connection. The black cast iron stand with chrome stem in the photos is included in the sale. There are some scratches and light pitting to the chrome finish as seen in the photos, but overall it displays beautifully with classic vintage Shure art deco design. This great working mic is ready for another 60 years of service for vintage performance recording and display.
The model 51 is known as as the “Nat King Cole” microphone as he used this model often back in the day (see final photo).
