Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a very unique 1960's era Japanese microphone based on the popular, earlier 1940's and 50's era RCA ribbon microphones. This make a great mic for that HAM radio set up.

This Olson model M-102 was a much cheaper crystal design that many Japanese companies sold at that time giving buyers a much cheaper inferior option. The design was a bit smaller and nowhere close to what the superior RCA model offered but it was very nostalgic so this was a very desirable mic then as it is now.

This style of mic was manufactured and sold by several Japanese companies such as Lafayette, Olson, Armaco, Akrad, Shield, Herald, Monarch, Philmore and several others. This is probably one of the most collectable Japanese microphones from the 1960's. Again, inferior sound but classic midcentury styling that will draw attention anywhere it's displayed.

This mic is 100% complete and both crystal elements work very well with strong output which is pretty uncommon for a mic of this age. They are both very well secured inside the housing as well. Nothing loose. The mic itself in very nice physical condition showing an absolute minimum of cosmetic wear. The rotating pill mic comes with a lower yoke and nice newer adjustable Atlas DS-5 stand.

As you can see the front and rear screen is chrome and have no dents, tarnish or bad odors.   The mid plastic bezel is free of fractures or scratches. The front Olson badge look excellent as well. The rear of the mic has the practical on / off switch that works without any issues.   The lower chrome dome is free of dents but shows a couple tiny scratches. The chrome lower yoke looks great and works as it should. The thumb screws tighten accordingly and look great. The mic will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have though one is already provided.

There is a short 1 foot cable that exits the mic that's in excellent condition. It's soft, pliable and wired properly. It has the vintage male Cannon XLR end connector. Simply attach any longer XLR cable of choice to operate the microphone.

The stand is a period 1960's Atlas DS-5 model that comes with a cast iron painted base and chrome riser. The stand is in very nice physical condition and compliments the mic nicely giving it a very stable platform.

Total height and width of this mic and stand is appx 14 inches high X 6 inches wide.

Again, works very nicely and they rarely come this nice. A very cool piece to display or use that will get tons of attention.

As with all my vintage microphones...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and the item will be re-listed. Domestic and foreign buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
