This has been one of my main 5-string basses. I've done all the work myself and have been building and modifying basses and guitars for over 15 years.
This bass has amazing tone! The upgrades are two of my favorites with Nordstrand Big Singles and a Noll 3-band EQ. The combination makes for a bass that is both warm and clear, with a FAT sounding B string. No flab in this baby.
The Noll preamp is made in Germany and does everything right. Here's what the Noll website has to say:
The NOLL TCM 3 is a compact equalizer that provides easy and space-saving installation. The secure insulation of the sealed equalizer perfectly protects other electrical components. Bass, midrange and treble controls are center-detented and allow 15dB of boost and cut with a gentle slope of 6dB per octave which results in a natural and true sound.
The equalizer is 9-Volt battery powered, adding an additional 9-Volt battery (18V) will ensure more headroom and longer battery life.
The NOLL TCM 3 onboard preamp can be combined with both active and passive pickups.
Power Consumptiontyp. 0,6mA @ 9V / 800h Batt. LifeAs you can see from the photo's, there's a nick in the finish by the EQ controls. It isn't all that bad, and it certainly doesn't affect the play-ability or tone. The weight on this bass is just about perfect and you can wear it on a long set and not get tired.
The reason I'm parting with this bass is to thin the herd, and I'm primarily playing 4-string these days. I have another 5 stringer I'm keeping.
The shipping charges are fixed at a flat rate. This covers packaging and shipping costs. I ship everything FedEx the next business day after payment had been made. I accept PayPal only.
You can certainly make an offer, but if it's a lo-ball offer I will politely ignore it. Nothing personal - I just know that this baby is a Killer deal at the price point I've set. The upgrades alone are over $300 so this makes the bass a steal at the price I've set.
If you are looking for a KILLER 5-string, look no further. This bass is the one you want!
