Cerwin-Vega 300SE Vintage Speakers/Monitors RESTORED PRO QUAL CAST FRAME

Fully restored classic hifi floor speakers, with HUGE sound, cast frame woofers, three way system, with nice crossover upgraded to polypropylene capacitors.

These even have the original grill cloths in decent condition, which you rarely ever see, because almost always these were listened to with them off to see the muscular CV drivers, and of course they knew that, hence the non reflective baffle that's covrred in black velvet with blaze orange bass surrounds (only 6 hours old in the pic).

Bottom speaker frame mounts have been rebuilt with new lumber, as the originals were a bit flimsy and ugly, and one thing you want with these, is a firm, even footprint to give these great speakers a solid brace on their very dense cabs thst will project the full range of the bass they deliver.

The dense particle board construction actually does help these project their sound, as unlike solid wood, is not resonant and very rigid, so that some of the highest quality speakers of the era used this type of "impregnated anti-resonance press board" to their benefit, as it worked well and was more suited to quality control in mass production... and not just a way to cut costs.

These are loud! But they're not cheap speakers... by no means! They were a meticulously engineered production model. The likes of which would run you a good $1,000 in today's money. Some folks at the time dismissed these as "frat rockers" as they did find their market among the younger generation, but their reputation has grown and solid examples such as these are getting some hefty prices.

So, don't think you'll need to upgrade anything in these, because you won't get the even response that was engineered into these from the start. The cast frame and phenolic tweeters are still as good as you could hope to get in the latest boutique monitors... fully tested...
