I was introduced to Professor Doug Unger by Banjo expert and aficionado John Bernunzio in 1982. Doug has built a global reputation for being the finest Open Back banjo luthier often using and modifying original Whyte Laydy, Tubaphone and Electric Pots with the original hardware and tonerings. His shell highly engraved inlay work is the best since the Consalvi Brothers work near the turn of the 20th century. This example is one of the finest Doug Unger banjos I’ve ever seen and the finest currently available on the market. Further description and more photos to follow. HSC
