Otari MX 5050 MK III - 8 Track. This unit is very clean, cosmetically in very good condition. Has newer Athan Corp pinch roller. All audio functions on the machine work re setting repro/sych/record functions. Regarding the transport: the machine plays, rewinds and fast forwards and the memory function on the auto locator functions as it should. However, the capstan motor must be serviced before operating this unit. Athan Corporation provides an Otari capstan motor rebuild for this specific machine ($375 cost).
I regularly recorded with this unit for years prior to the capstan motor freezing last year and I consistently demagnetized the heads and tape roller/guides prior to every use. I am preparing for an international move and unfortunately am not able to take this with me.
