Some guitars can be slide guitars in addition to being a regular guitar. When a guitar becomes absolutely hopeless from a repair perspective it can be given a “slide guitar only” status like a former prize racehorse that now just makes appearances at car dealerships. Playing slide will make you a way better guitar player, it‘s a totally different approach and philosophy that is really good for the brain. The lessons learned in slide have a subtle way of translating over to regular guitar playing like a little geography factoid that you pick up in a fiction story that you can blurt out at parties. Slide is is guitar playing, but it’s way more like playing a theramin or a violin than a guitar, the world is way more open and not confined to the boundaries of frets.
This guitar has slide action, it’s sky high, but it‘s such good candidate to be a slide guitar that it’s awesome. The bowl back gives it a ton of volume, it’s like a little amphitheater in there. The tone is rich and it has tons of projection. It‘s almost got a bit of a Weissenborn shape and sound, very rich and mid-rangey, exactly what you want from a slide guitar. Don‘t pick this one up thinking you can play chords on it, this one is a slide machine!
