NEW Altura MkII Theremin MIDI Controller / Arpeggiator emulates the behavior of a theremin. Wave your hands over the Altura MkII and it will send MIDI data to your synthesizer or computer.

ARPEGGIATOR: Program any sequence up to eight steps, wave your hand and the sequence plays up and down the scale as it loops, always in the key you select.

THEREMIN: Control pitch, volume, bend, velocity, modulation, portamento and more! Coupled with a synth that responds to portamento (like the Macchiato Mini Synth), you can create that authentic spooky theremin sound.

MIDI CONTOLLER: In X-Y Mode, send data to any two CC#'s for expressive, creative control.

Great for DJ's, electronica, performance artists, serious musicians -- also great fun for goofing around! Makes a thoughtful and fun gift.

This listing is a fully-assembled Altura in a gloss black acrylic case, ready to use (also available as an easy DIY kit). Requires 9V DC power, either from a battery or a "wall wart" (available separately). For free downloadable owner's manual, contact the seller.

The Altura MkII was designed as a companion to the Macchiato Mini Synth by Zeppelin Design Labs: there are a few special features that will only work well when paired with the Macchiato. Otherwise, the Altura conforms with General MIDI specifications and should easily control any MIDI device. Many MIDI devices do not conform to the General MIDI specification. In these cases, you may need to fiddle with your synthesizer some before it will respond properly to the Altura.  

INTERNAL SOFTWARE

The Altura MkII MIDI Theremin open-source software was written in the Arduino environment and is available on our Github page.  Arduino enthusiasts can modify the code and flash it to the Altura MkII.
