One of a kind Rare Martin acoustic Guitar collector piece. This was probably never intended to be let out of the factory.

This guitar is an interesting collector piece from what I have been told the body was fully assembled at the Martin factory as a D28. The fretboard was made for a D45 Mike Longworth guitar.

This has a Martin neck, tuners, truss rod are all correct. The inside has the Martin logos engraved in the bracing . The pickguard looks to be modified, the finish looks good but looks to have been amateur refinished. The tuning peg holes look slightly off and was probably done by hand , not on the computer controlled line. The nut slot also looks to been done by hand. What makes this interesting piece was this guitar at one point was labled Friezing test. As far as I understand the Friezing machine is a specialized machine that cuts/ routes the wood in the Martin Factory. This guitar was only halfway routed for inlay and was manufactured by Martin as a engineering sample to test the machine. Later on someone from the factory took the body and finished the guitar. That is why it only has pearl inlay on front and back but only on half of the guitar. Some pictures of the raw body were included showing the d28 and Friezing test. The guitar sounds great and plays great but could be even better with a proper setup. Some fret polishing needed on the high e string and truss rod / saddle and nut adjustment would make this an excellent player instrument. I think the top is Sitka and the sides and back are mahogany. Has a very sweet tone. Includes a Martin Hardshell case which sells for $379 by itself. Since this is a rare item that wasn't intended for sale, while still a functional guitar, is sold as a collector item. Sold as -is as to someone that appreciate the history. A good skilled luthier could take this up to d45 quality with not much work I think.
