Gibson's TAK MATSUMOTO Les Paul is now in stock.
This is the fifth Gibson signature model and the first Japanese guitarist. Painted in canary yellow, the color of his beloved Ferrari, this instrument was a worldwide sensation due to its unique coloring, which had never been seen on a Gibson guitar before, and the popularity of B'z himself.
The model we have just received was made in 1999, the first year of production, and while the 2018 model had a chambered construction with weight relief, this early model has a full solid construction, with a weight of 4.70Kg.
The basic base specs follow the royal Les Paul. Maple top/mahogany back body, mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard are used.
Black binding and truss rod cover with special black/yellow/black coloring, beautiful pearl dish inlays, and "Tak Matsumoto" signature logo printed on the top.
The pickups are Burst Bucker Tak Matsumoto Special. The pickups are bright and fat, and work well with distortion.
Since more than 20 years have passed since its production, there are some bumps due to thinning of the binding, cracks on the top paint and floating of the paint on the head top, which are common to canary yellow guitars of this period.
In addition, there are dents on the back of the body, paint dulling on the back of the neck, and metal parts that are dull. There is also some wear on the frets, but there is plenty of room on the trarod, and the instrument is in good playing condition.
Accessories: Certificate of Authenticity, original hard case, papers.
