This is a lovely original 1965 Gibson SG Standard in Cherry with Maestro Vibrola. Includes original case. Weight according to our scale is 7 lbs 9.9 oz.
The nut size is 1 9/16" from what we can see from our measurement.
Folks, this is Vintage tone at it's finest. Oozing from every possible spot in that perfectly aged wood, it's the real deal and a pretty exceptional piece!
And check out that amazing weather checking! It's consistent across the body, as shown, front and back. Looks kind of like a flamed maple top if you look closely.
The bridge pickup was measured on 7/21/23 as 8.71 ohms, and the neck at 7.25 ohms.
Overall condition is very good but if you like weather checking, we'd call it excellent. We believe that you will agree. The only things that are not original are the pickup covers and the tuning keys. The pickup covers were purchased from Philadelphia Luthier Tools and Supplies. They are PAF 50's Spec Nickel Plated Covers, and they were aged before being installed.
We have uploaded some photos to help you to catch some important details.
The tone of this fine instrument is heavenly and some of the greatest players have played 60's SG Standards. Players like George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Tony Iommi, Angus Young, Derek Trucks, Gary Clark Jr., and a host of other greats as well.
VERY IMPORTANT: Please insure this fine guitar for the full amount of the sale price and provide us with proof of insurance before we ship the guitar. We promise you that we will package everything very securely and with extreme care to the details.
