There’s a story of Stevie Nicks being on a road trip when she had the idea for “Stand Back.” Back in the day if you had a fire idea for a song but didn‘t have a way to record it right there it was in danger of getting washed away like a sand castle, time was of the essence where you had to find a tape recorder. She allegedly pulled over to find a Radio Shack to buy a tape recorder, and she sang “Stand Back” for the first time in a parking lot of a Radio Shack on the way to Santa Barbara. Tape recorders like this were the way how ideas got put down for the first time, and recording with them has their own unique and spontaneous quality to them that can interact with a modern home studio.

This one is stereo, and there’s tons of possibilities for using it in a home studio. The included mic is stereo with two capsules and two outputs, it would be awesome as a drum overhead! Each capsule splits out to two different outputs and inputs on the tape recorder, and the tape recorder has stereo outs, so you get two totally separated tracks to mix later in your DAW. It also sounds really great for just chilling and listening to albums on tape like a little old school stereo! Everything works perfectly and it sounds really good. The rewind and fast-forward work when you hold the button in about midway, that’s how they work on this model, I can send you a video of how that works and other basic functions.
