For sale is my 1990 Gibson Custom L-5 CES with original hardshell case. The guitar is in great condition; the only reason I don't give it an "Excellent" rating is due to patina on the pick-up covers and tuning keys, which I've tried to show on some of the close-up photos. There are no scratches or worn spots on either side of the guitar, and the finish is in excellent shape. It's been very well cared for and always kept in a climate-controlled, smoke-free home.

The nut width is about 42mm, or a shade under 1 3/4". There is no appreciable fret wear or other signs of past heavy use.

This is the classic jazz box - the one used by virtually all the great jazz guitarists at various times in their careers. This particular L-5 is a blast to play and sounds wonderful, particularly through a good amp; it gives a nice, woody jazz archtop sound that really can't be beat.

It's really not clear how much these guitars are worth. I started out way too high, based on what similar L-5s were listed for, not realizing that some of these instruments have been on Reverb for years due, no doubt, to their unreasonable price tags. In line with Reverb's suggestions, I've dropped it to $7500.00, which I believe is a fair price. Heck, it's a steal. I might consider an offer a couple of hundred below that, but I don't plan to drop the price any more; this is a great guitar at a great price.
