Priced on par with a bit more common and Panasonic RS-296US. There is no pricing data available anywhere, so I can not tell you what these sold for previously. This unit is rare as hell and this one is the only one available for sale. I paid an arm and a leg for it and after dropping the price, fees taken out and free shipping my profits would be equal to a bottle of a half-way decent Scotch.

I purchased it from a collector who purchased it from the original owner who served in Germany in early 70‘s and brought it home with him and carefully stored it,

Part One: Same same, but different

I’ve been searching high and low, since the day I acquired this thing, trying to find another one for sale. Adopt a sibling to keep her company. There are none. Well, there is one, but the page says it has been listed “One month ago” for 2 years now. That listing has the price set to $7,999. It does not have original speakers, but mine does. That one only has the ski-slope loader, mine has both. The standard vertical, and the optional ski-slope. That one does not come with extremely uncomfortable original headphones, but mine does. That photo is not cool, mine super cool and stuff. That one has visible scratch and mine does too. Yay! I have no idea what happened, but it is my fault. It was not there when I bought it. I feel like an idiot doing it in the first place and not even knowing how I did that on top if that. I also have an original service manual. Oh, that one is untested. Mine is alive. Proof of life on the video, until YouTube takes it down for daring to commit horrific crime or playing 10 second fragments from Pink Floyd, Scorpions, Iron Maiden and Depeche Mode

Part Two: Life In Captivity

So, full disclosure, when I got it, it was fully functional. It is 220v and I had to buy a voltage converter. One day I turned it o. and within 3 seconds its went dark. I traced the problem to the thermal fuse inside the power transformer. It is impossible to find OEM transformer, so I ended up buying thermal fuses with identical spec and she was back to life after a relatively minor surgery and worked just fine for 6 months. Until one day when, while she was playing, we got a weird power outage. After lights came on, she lit up, but was stuck in cassette eject loop. She ejects the cassette, loads the next one, ejects it and loads next one non-stop. So she currently does that. I have not had time to sit down and figure it out yet, but my suspicion is that the power spike fried a transistor somewhere. I don’t know, i’m just talking out of my ass without spending any time troubleshooting it, and i really have no idea if it is a transistor, aliens or government spying on me. I’m not really good at reading schematics. Oh, and did i mention that the only available service manual is in Dutch. Or German. Or some other language I don’t speak a word of. I am planning on fixing it, but it will take some time

Part Three: Mail-order Bride

I really really do not want to sell it, but i decided to become a criminal and you can’t be a criminal without money. So I am going to use the proceeds to fake it till I make it. And I need to hire someone who can teach how to do be a criminal and how to say criminal things. A tutor of sorts

The intention always was to find her a good home. My garage is the house of horrors and she needs at least a middle-to upper class neighborhood. A gated community would be clutch.
