Beautiful Vintage 1980s Sigma SDM-18 by Martin Acoustic Dreadnought Guitar in Excellent Condition, made in Korea in the mid-late 80s!!

Beautiful Vintage 1980s Sigma SDM-18 by Martin Acoustic Dreadnought Guitar, made in Korea in the mid-late 80s! This is a wonderful sounding guitar that is in excellent playing condition with great, medium-low action. It features a solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides, pearl logo, black celluloid binding and classy center stripe on book-matched back, tortoiseshell pickguard, carved mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard and an added piezo pickup. It’s got a classic dreadnought body that measures 15-11/16” wide with a 1-11/16 nut and 25-1/2” scale length. The serial number is 8911XXXX and apparently doesn’t represent a specific date, but it appears that these were made sometime between 1984 and 1989. The serial number and model with the football shaped stamp are visible on the center brace on the back. Besides the working electronics, the guitar appears to be all original. It had the headstock repaired before I acquired it about 15 years ago and has held strong for all of this time. It was strung up with Elixir 80/20 Custom Light 11s strings nearly 10 years ago and they’re still in great shape. It has a smaller, easy to handle V neck profile that feels great in my hands. The frets show some wear in the 1st position but still play great. The guitar has an X braced top and really projects well, with a nice rich tone you would expect from a Martin. I’ve had several MIJ and MIK Sigmas and have held onto this one because it sounds so good and has such a wonderful neck. The truss rod works fine, the action is very good at 5/64” to 3/32’ @ 12th fret and there is plenty of saddle if you choose to bring it down even further. There are some light scratches and dings with some more noticeable scratches on the lower back, the top is nearly pristine. There is some minor clouding of the finish on the headstock that is hard it see in the pics and isn’t a big deal. The high gloss finish is spectacular and this wonderful tone machine will not disappoint. The top is nice and flat with no bulging, bellying and no cracks or crack repairs. The guitar sounds very impressive plugged in or acoustically and would be a great guitar to gig with, allowing you to leave the high dollar Martin at home. The under saddle pickup was added before I acquired the guitar and a new 9V battery has been installed. This beauty comes with a nice padded Yamaha gig bag that’s in very good shape and will be packed and shipped with experience you can trust.
