About This Listing

Mike Lipe custom built this Jem for Steve Vai at the LA Custom shop in 1989. Reasons for build was to test something Steve suggested and it wasn’t what he ended up wanting. So the story goes… Mike finished with all of the parts, some being custom and gave to me (His daughter).
I have had it in the case since a teen and has only been played a couple times. Color is still excellent.
It has been checked out by Ibanez custom shop and it’s legit being the back plate was before they made the address for LA Custom shop and these are what they used until New address was made. Like I said it’s custom.

Product Overview
This was the original JEM model, distinguished by the bright yellow or bright pink finish, faded pink DiMarzio pickups and colorful pyramid inlays.

This era also saw the JEM777V, which replaced the pyramids for vine inlays, and the JEM777LG, which was the first Steve Vai production model (only 777 specimens were produced).
