Offering a vintage, rare, and very attractive vintage ribbon microphone, the Geloso 416 ribbon microphone, early 1950's era...the best mic Italian-maker Geloso ever produced! This mic has been refurbished as a performance mic. The original dual-ribbon motor has been replaced with a modern ribbon motor with state-of-the-art neodymium magnets. The transformer was replaced with a Cinemag 9888 transformer in mu-metal can. All internal wiring uses high quality Mogami cable, a cable relief spring and short attached pig-tail terminating with  in a 3-pin male Neutrik XLR connector.
Cosmetically, it's in nice condition with brass yoke that has been buffed and polished to a high gloss; the original corroded wire wind screen has been replaced with a handsome copper windscreen, backed by new black wind cloth, original sharp front maker's badge with a working on-off switch. (Remember, it's an Italian mic, so ON is "SI", and OFF is "NO".)  The mic base is a vintage solid (heavy) cast iron of unknown manufacture. The mic itself measures 5  3/8" high x 3" between yoke screws, and total height with stand at 12".This mic has a warm ribbon sound that makes it useful for recording electric guitars, drums, strings, vocals and more. Like most ribbon mics it has a figure of eight recording pattern; sensitive at both front and back, and muted at the sides. The output is strong, although it's always advisable to employ extra pre-amplification on older ribbon mics. The desk stand shown is included. ** Always safe secure packaging and fast fair shipping. **
