Minimal Form Factor Shield for MiniDexed: 8 DX7’s!
When combined with your Raspberry Pi ZERO 2 W and a USB MIDI controller or adapter it enables you to have 8 polyphonic DX7 Instances. It is also compatible with the PI Zero W allowing for a single DX7 instance. Store thousands of your favorite patches and use the encoder or MIDI for bank, patch, and program parameter changes. A custom-designed shield and faceplate comes fully assembled with brass standoffs, a 1306 LCD, a KY-040 encoder, a 5102 DAC, and a 1/8" line-level stereo jack output. It measures approximately 3x1.5 inches and stands 2 inches tall. Thoroughly tested, but please note that the Raspberry Pi and MIDI adapter cable are not included. A print-out of minidexed.ini parameters used for these components will be included.

MiniDexed is an FM synthesizer that emulates the DX7, developed by a well-known Japanese manufacturer. It runs on a bare metal Raspberry Pi, without the need for a Linux kernel or operating system. When combined with this shield and a Raspberry Pi ZERO 2H, it can operate 8 polyphonic DX7 instances, similar to the TX816/TX802. MiniDexed has been featured by HACKADAY and Adafruit.
