Elitist Les Paul Standard

Twisted Pinkburst

Here is a rare Les Paul— For all you hair metal, 90’s metal people, Twisted Sister really broke out with their Stay Hungry album in 1984 and the rest is history. Dee, Jay Jay and the band to this day are a force in heavy music history. This guitar has the Twisted Sister logo on the headstock and is a very unique Twisted Pinkburst gloss finish like none other. When you pop the case, THIS GUITAR gets a lot of Ohh’s and Ahh’s. A centerpiece for any collection. Candidly, I don’t want to see it leave and in this condition, you’ll be hard-pressed to find another. These are rare enough to become available and the Excellent Condition puts it over the top.

This listing is for my 2005 Epiphone Jay Jay French Elitist Les Paul Standard in Twisted Pinkburst finish. Call our friends at Epiphone with the serial number F501833 and they will verify this Jay Jay French. This particular guitar did not ship from the factory until 2006 and was either a demo or promotional piece. Their records do not say where it shipped, however this was not one just sent to a retailer for sale. Perhaps why this one is so clean 17 years later.

This is an Elitist model which means it was made at one of two Japan factories using parts from Japan, United States and other countries. The cost of production of Elitist Epiphones is said to be more than double traditional Epiphone. The Elitist series was discontinued in 2008 with the exception of the Casino model.

The pickups are Gibson Burstbucker 2 & 3. The body is African Mohagany with a Harp Maple cap, one piece mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. The rear body of this Jay Jay French is unique with its “Belly Scarf” cut out. MSRP of this guitar back in 2005 was $1768.00USD.

Twisted Pinkburst is a VERY Unique Presence

Condition of this Jay Jay French is Excellent. I was very excited to find it. The front body is exceptionally clean. I cannot find any nicks or dings on the front body, edges or side body. The hardware is exceptionally clean for 17 years. This instrument was clearly kept in a smoke-free, temperature controlled environment. Being 17 years old, the nickel plated hardware could use a light polishing if you wanted to bring them back. They are NOT chrome and should not be a mirror finish. The gold knobs have light cracks upon close inspection. They sit tight and work completely as they should. This is cosmetic and some of you would never have noticed if I did not mention it here. The board and headstock are also in exceptional condition. I don’t think this Jay Jay was played much at all.

Flip over to the rear body and angle around under a bright light and you will be amazed how clean and glossy this Pinkburst is. There is a tiny patch, about quarter size, of light surface scratches. I have this photographed above with a pen tip. Very minor in the grand scheme of this guitar. The lower rear body has a vertical scratch into the finish not exposing the wood. Again, the hard angle and over head light I use enhances it for photos. It is not as dominant in real life. That’s it.Nothing else to tell you. This is a rare, collectible Les Paul in fantastic condition.

From Epiphone: Epiphone announced the new Jay Jay French Twisted Pinkburst Signature Guitar that that instantly distinguishes it as a Twisted Sister inspired model. Based on a Les Paul Standard from Epiphone's prestigious Elitist series, the Twisted Sister inspired model sports the glam rock band's Bone logo on the headstock and guitarist Jay Jay French's name on the truss rod cover.

Twisted Sister came into the rock-n-roll world in 1987 as a New York based Glam band with theatrics rivaling KISS and a shock factor like none other. Their songs "I Wanna Rock" and "We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore" were hugely successful and the band's extensive touring kept them at the top of the charts. Lead guitarist Jay Jay French's passion for Epiphone guitars goes beyond the stage and is now captured in the Epiphone "Twisted Pinkburst" Jay Jay French Signature Model.

“I have played Les Pauls professionally for 32 years with Twisted Sister”, said Jay Jay French. “I am honored that Epiphone has chosen me and my guitar as the pink burst has been a signature of mine for years. I think that the features on the guitar like the cut out in the back and the pick-ups that are Burstbuckers as well as having all premium parts and assembly done here in the United States as part of the Elitist line are design features that all guitarists will love.”

The guitar is an exact replica of the 1978 Gibson Les Paul that was custom painted by Steve Carr, Kiss’ original guitar designer, and seen in all of the groundbreaking MTV Twisted Sister videos. The original guitar can also be heard on all of Twisted Sister’s albums and featured on the two most famous metal anthems" of the 80s “We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock".

The Jay Jay French Epiphone Signature model is one of the Elitist series designed for the professional musician seeking the ultimate in performance. As with all Epiphone Elitist models it features premium electronics including pickups made by Gibson USA, Grover machine heads, nickel plated hardware and a bone nut. Other features include an African Mahogany body with a Hard Maple cap, a one-piece Mahogany neck and a Rosewood fingerboard with a 24-3/4" scale length. For added playing comfort, the back of the body has a "belly-scarf" or cutout.
