Pele's Hair

Pele's Hair sounds quite unlike any other drive pedal because Pele's Hair creates overdrive in an entirely different way - no diodes, FETs, or DSP!

The familiar drive/level/tone control group is there, but is augmented by the addition of a unique set of controls which can inspire truly creative tones and playing.

While the Boost and Tone controls are directly in the audio path, overdrive is shaped and controlled independently via a separate circuit called Drive.

Boost and Tone

Pele's Hair can be used as a clean boost simply by turning the drive control fully off.

The Tone control is a high shelf, cut/boost eq, flat when the control is centered.

Drive, High and Low

The High and Low rotary controls are 8-position filters and directly affect the Drive control.

Changing these filters alters the frequency range that is being overdriven.

The right toggle switch "SAG" limits the dynamic range of the drive signal, altering the dynamic response of the drive control. Again, this doesn't affect the audio signal directly; only the drive signal. The left toggle switch "ASYM" changes the drive signal from symmetrical to asymmetrical, altering its harmonic content.
