Alvarez-Yairi DY-88BK Acoustic-electric guitar with hardshell case.

Likely 1988 model. Spruce top; maple back and sides in gloss black. Ebony fingerboard with thumbnail inlays. Abalone around the entire body. Gold tuners. The built-in electronics were professionally installed in 2014, upgrading to System 600MkII. It features a built-in tuner, 3-band EQ, sweepable mid, notch filter. This guitar also includes a K&K Pure Mini pickup (installed in 2021), which is blended by the preamp (Aux).

Scale 25½". Nut width 1 11/16".

The build quality is solid. Even in this instrument, the sound projection is great. When I take out the preamp to change batteries, I sometimes disconnect all the signal wires and just listen to the sound through the open hole. It's astonishing how good it sounds.

This is one of TWO DY-88 guitars I am selling*. For our rock cover band, this was my backup instrument; the other was my main. This is one of the best acoustic instruments for loud pop or rock bands; feedback control is mitigated not only by the lack of a sound hole, but also a notch filter built into the preamp.

This has some dings and light scratches, the most noteworthy being a chip in the headstock. But no repairs have been done or needed.
