*Not all original.
This guitar came to me in 1998, bone stock, while I was on the road. The previous owner had also toured with it and I continued doing the same. I don’t remember any historical details but having owned it since ‘98 is why I think it’s made in Japan.
Soon after I got it, I had it Frankensteined - replaced the bridge, blocked the vibrato, replaced the neck and the soapbars with humbuckers. Original parts are long gone.
In 2019, I had it turned into what you see today: The neck (its third one) is a Classic Player Series Jazzmaster neck with Pau Ferro fingerboard - frets have little wear if any at all, 21 med/jumbo frets, C profile, 9.5" radius. The pickups are a Fender Pure Vintage Jazzmaster set which has a single-coil-on-steroids sound, even through a cheap solid state Princeton Chorus, but also pushed my old Sovtek Mig-60. The trem is still blocked, no wiggle stick. I did remove a lot of rust off the tailpiece but you may see a little bit still there.
Volume pot is 500k. Not sure if it came like that or if 1 meg pots were swapped out during its first surgery.
The pickguard has extra tiny holes (in pictures) where humbucker adapters had been screwed. The tuners are a DiMarzio set that were used on the 2nd neck and they work great so I kept them. In the photos you should see that the back of the sixth string machine looks sunken-in. No effect on function.
The bridge is aftermarket, not sure what brand, and does what is required. It also comes with an extra piece that you can slide into it to turn it into a wraparound tailpiece. Not that you would.
Back photos will show a few nicks and some left-over sticker adhesive. The guitar used to be covered in stickers which, for better or worse, may have prevented buckle rash and other honest wear. I “goo-gone’d” the heck out of it but there’s a little left over.
I have not found any other identifiers in the pickup cavities, which are painted black. The original neck was removed between ‘98 and ‘99 when I didn’t care about dating or serial numbers. Don’t know if anything would be in the neck pocket but I haven’t looked myself. For everything that's been done, I paid a professional to do.
Original case fell apart, I will ship in non-original hard case. Guitar alone weighs 7.8 lbs.
