Up for sale, a 1990 Charvel by Jackson Ark Series AR-070-SSH in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Produced at the Chushin factory in Japan and sold exclusively to the Japanese domestic market, this AR-070-SSH is built to shred. Adhering very closely to the specs of the Charvel Model 3, this AR-070 features a quartersawn rock maple neck, a thick slab rosewood fingerboard, and a poplar body. The bridge pickup is a Jackson J90C ultra high-output, distortion class humbucker with an accentuated low frequency response. The pair of single coils are Jackson J100s, delivering classic Strat tones in the neck and middle positions. The five-way blade pickup selector switch offers a variety of voicing options via the HSS configuration from snappy single coil spank to roaring high gain drive. This Charvel weighs 8lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation.

The quartersawn rock maple neck has a slender D-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders and faintly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .725” deep at the 1st fret and .850” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a compound 12-16” radius, dot inlay, and flawless stock jumbo fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The locking nut measures 1 5/8“ in width, holding steady against the deepest of dives at the FLC-101 tremolo. On the headstock, the original Jackson-branded Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should.

All of the electronics work as they should, with Master Volume and Tone knobs and a five-way pickup selector switch governing the Jackson SSH pickup array. The original full-size Japanese pots date to July, 1990. Hardware comprises the dome-topped knurled knobs and FLC-101 tremolo system, all of which have a faint dusting of surface patina. The one-ply black pickguard has some requisite scuffing along the strum path.

The gloss Light Blue finish has subtle yellowing of the clear coat, adding a hint of green to the instrument's presentation. This is an exceedingly well-kept guitar, with cosmetic wear limited to a scant few faint finish scratches on the back. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile feels lightning fast in the palm, with a small scuffed area behind frets 4-6 that has no impact on playability.

A padded gigbag is included.
