Minimal Form Factor Shield for MiniDexed: 8 DX7’s!
This MiniDexed shield features a compact footprint measuring approximately 3x1.5 inches and stands 2 inches tall. When combined with your Raspberry Pi ZERO 2 and a USB MIDI adapter it enables you to have 8 DX7s. It is also compatible with the PI Zero W allowing for a single DX7.
A custom-designed PCB and faceplate comes fully assembled with brass standoffs, a 1306 LCD, a KY-040 encoder, a 1502 DAC, and a 1/8" line-level stereo jack output. Thoroughly tested, but please note that the Raspberry Pi and MIDI adapter cable are not included. I made a few of these as it was more efficient to source the parts in bulk.
Free shipping to the continental US.
MiniDexed is an FM synthesizer that closely emulates the renowned DX7, developed by a well-known Japanese manufacturer. It runs on a bare metal Raspberry Pi, without the need for a Linux kernel or operating system. When combined with this shield and a Raspberry Pi ZERO 2, it can operate 8 tone generators, similar to the TX816/TX802 (8 DX7 instances without the keyboard) housed in a single box. MiniDexed has been featured by HACKADAY and Adafruit.
