Up for sale is a fully refurbished and tested and aligned MCI JH-110B 1/4" reel to reel tape deck. The deck has had significant work done to it, and is in perfect working shape as indicated below.
Work done to this deck:
-removed preamp PC boards and resoldered dozens of bad solder joints, including all module interconnects.
-DeOxIt sprayed in all relay contacts and controls/switches
-resoldering of all Molex connectors in power supply to ensure stable operation.
-setup and testing of power supply to correct voltages
-testing of all preamp cards
-replacement of VU meter dial lights
-full calibration and setup of play and record preamps and bias cards
-24 hour testing of entire deck in playback and record modes.
-frequency test done on all channels, from 20-20Khz
-flat to beyond 20Khz at 15 and 30 IPS, to 19Khz at 7 1/2.
We are one of the only techs in the Pacific Northwest that sells and services reel to reel tape recorders. From entry level mono tube machines from the 1950s to 2" 24 track decks, we have all the tools, test equipment and experience to bring these vintage decks back from the dead.
This deck came to us when a large local recording studio shut down, and we purchased several MCI machines and parts thereof. All MCIs need about 12 hours worth of work done as listed above before we sell them, this one was no exception, except for the fact that the power supply Molex solder joints did not show any cracks, indicating that at least the power supply, if not the whole deck, is a low hour unit. The heads are in excellent shape as shown.
The deck will come with a metal takeup reel and generic NAB adapters. The reels pictured are not included with the deck.
If you need a mastering deck, but can't quite afford a Studer, this is the way to go! It's a 2 track deck, which means it uses the whole width of the tape on one pass. It will not play standard consumer 1/4 track tapes properly.
Note that unless you're local to the Pacific Northwest and want to come and pick the deck up (encouraged), the deck will need to be sent via truck (freight). Shipping estimates are $250-450 depending on where you are located. We know how to pack these (put into a double wall custom box, set on a moving blanket, and strapped to a pallet), and ship out many decks a year. We ship at cost, DO NOT rely on the Reverb calculator or estimator), and will refund any excess payment.
Questions? Message or call us! We also buy old nonworking decks, so if you have something, let us know.
