Maracas, Custom Hand Made in Venezuela, Professional Model 2022 - Gloss

These brand new maracas were hand made by the great master Lorenzo Alvarado in Barquisimeto, Venezuela in 2022. I supervised the design and size of this whole shipment one pair at a time and chose only the best. These maracas have the handle tightly fit into the round "tapara" and then glued with an industrial glue for longevity. Each element (the tapara, which contains the "capachos" or beads, and the handle) are from natural origins from the area where Mr Alvarado lives. These are the most authentic Venezuelan maracas you will find, with a strong, beautiful sound that fits perfectly in an acoustic ensemble. This pair is glossy transparent brown fading to black on the top, with natural brown handles. The handles have a unique shape which enables the maraca player to play fast and hard and they will never slip from your grip. The advantage to having the handle fit and glued as opposed to the stick going through the round tapara is that you can play these horizontally or vertically and get two very different sounds. The other design only allows vertical performance and has only the tighter sound that is produced in a vertical movement. Lorenzo Alvarado's wonderful craftsmanship comes from a long family tradition of making maracas from natural and sustainable local sources. I am very proud to sell these instruments for him and I couldn't help keeping several pairs for myself, for performance and especially for recording. This pair comes with a soft pouch to carry them in safely.
