Henrik Hvilsted (b. 1871) was a brick layer earlier in life, encouraged by his brother-in-law, Hans Gregersen (a carpenter) to make his first forays into the violin trade. Recently acquired out of France, this Danish violin by Hvilsted crafted in 1934. immediately impresses both precision and symmetry, with evident attention to every detail and an attractive back length of 355mm. This violin has a broad, colorful voice with consistent overtones, a clear, direct quality, ample flexibility, and commendable projection.
