This guitar was built for the 1979-80 NAMM show by John Dragonetti and renaissance guitars. The deal hopefully one that would save renaissance and put SUNN on the map in the guitar world. There were 2 guitars and a bass built for the show. One of the guitars was broken at a NAMM after party and the bass no one knows where it landed. But, this is the one surviving piece. But, even better, this guitar was actually owned by Mack Rice, writer of the classic "Mustang Sally".
I acquired this guitar earlier this year and have enjoyed learning the history of it. I have traced its origins to Houston, TX where it is reported that the original SUNN rep hailed from.
The guitar features a Leo Quan bridge, Dimarzio Pickups, and a beautiful acrylic body.
