1996 Fender Japan Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Telecaster Deluxe guitar – MIJ

RARE opportunity to get your hands on a very limited edition Fender Japan Deluxe Telecaster 50th Anniversary! These were released in Japan in 1996 to celebrate Fender company 50th jubilee and are very sought after by collectors and players because of their unique looks and stunning top quality!

Amazing condition for the age apart from some surface scratching, buckle rash on the back. Classic 62 Vintage Reissue C-shape neck with striking matching black headstock and gold logo and beautiful maple wood figuring. Slab rosewood fretboard and 21 vintage frets have minimal wear, all electronics and tuners have been upgraded to the highest grade USA specs.

This Tele has very unusual grey-blue pearloid double binding of the body and used to have all gold hardware, that was all changed to chrome by the previous owner. The only gold things left are the string ferrules on the back and the output cup. No so great Fender Japan single coil pickups were upgraded to a USA-made Seymour Duncan mini-humbucker in the neck position (exactly the same pickup as used in Fender Hot Rod Tele) and a Seymour Duncan JB Jr in the bridge position. Plus Oak Grisby 3-way, full size CTS pots, Orange Drop capacitor and Switchcraft output jack. Tuners have been upgraded to Kluson “single line” Deluxe.

This instrument received a full professional setup with deep body cleansing, body polish, neck deep clean, lemon oil fretboard treatment, full electronics check, truss-rod and action and intonation adjustment. Restringed with Fender 10-52 Nickel-plated steel strings. FEATURES:

C-NECK: Beautiful classic 62 Vintage Reissue C-shape maple neck in very good condition has very comfortable rolled in fretboard edges and rich slab rosewood fretboard with classic vintage 7,25-inch radius and 21 vintage frets with pretty minimal wear. Upgraded with classic vintage style Kluson Deluxe “single line” tuners. Truss rod works smoothly and is adjusted at the heel of the neck. V-serial on the back, neck heel stamped TLG-94P, Fender 50th Anniversary logo on the back of the headstock. Unusual feature – black matching headstock with gold Fender logo.

ALDER BODY: Very well balanced Alder body in striking Piano Black. Very unusual blue-grey pearloid double binding of the body plus a thin white binding on the top and back, truly Custom Shop level embellishments. Surface scratching on the body and a buckle rash on the back, but nothing major and everything purely cosmetic. Rich deep sound and plenty of resonance. Original blue/grey pearloid scratchplate was cut to fit the humbucker, body routing for it is very neat and was done professionally. Neck pickup is classically mounted on the body. The total weight of this guitar is 3,5 kg (7.7lbs)

PICKUPS: Seymour Duncan mini humbucker in the neck position gives this Tele a roaring and very full thick sound. This is exactly the same pickup Fender used in their renowned Hot Rod Telecaster. Handmade in California, this pickup has incredible string to string separation and clarity. Seymour Duncan JB JR in the bridge position gives a much twangier sound with plenty of mid-range and beautiful top. Both pickups have 4-conductor wires, so can be both coil-tapped for additional single coil sounds. Truly expressive with broad variety of tones via the Volume and Tone knobs. All the non-reliable original wiring has been upgraded with CTS full size 500K pots, Oak Grisby USA 3-way switch and Switchcraft output jack. Orange Drop capacitor provides smooth treble roll-off.

BRIDGE: This Telecaster is equipped with a 6 saddle bridge instead of the classic 3-saddle and can achieve much better intonation and action thanks to the individual adjustment possibilities. Chrome is still shiny. Thick base plate provides strong sustain and resonance.
