This is a 1986 Kramer-Ripley 5 string stereo bass...
If anybody knows anything about these bases they have a very rich history between Tom Anderson Steve Ripley and If anybody knows anything about these basses they have a very rich history between Tom Anderson,Steve Ripley, and Kramer guitars...The neck and body were made by Tom Anderson all the electronics for stereo panning were created by Steve Ripley and the basses were assembled at the Kramer factory in Neptune New Jersey...The bass had a very short run in the Kramer line up and very limited number of basses were made... some of the biggest biggest supporters of the Ripley line were Eddie Van Halen and Steve Porcaro of Toto & Jeff Pilson of Dokken/Foreigner
This bass has been well used as you can see... I was fortunate enough to get some NOS parts from Steve Ripley before he passed away from cancer this month… All the electronics work all except the one volume/pan pot on the G string on the rear pickup doesn’t work so well other than that...the truss rod works just fine the neck is straight with plenty of meat left on the frets...there are some holes in the top of the body from where a pickguard was installed at some point and an extra hole which is covered by tape if you see in the picture because there was an extra knob added at some point...The bass would make a great restoration project for somebody who is a big Kramer fan, or someone who into rare guitars or basses... bass will be shipped in a non-original hardshell case
