1984 Ryoji Matsuoka GA1000 Classical Guitar w/OHSC & Reg Card Ibanez Mastercraft

Up for sale is an incredibly rare 1984 Ryoji Matsuoka GA1000 Classical Guitar. Guitar includes original case and also the original registration/warranty card written in Japanese. Here is a bit of history to help you become familiar with this guitar.  Ryoji Matsuoka is a renowned Japanese luthier who was known to have had a hand in making many of the Ibanez classical guitars in the late 70's and early 80's (as well as guitars for Fleta, Hauser, Kohno, David Rubio, higher end Aria and his own label). In the 1982/1983 Ibanez classical guitar catalog, Ibanez introduced two models called the Mastercraft Series (Model GA1000 & GA 1200). Many classical guitarists and collectors have wondered about this guitar, as it seems none ever come up for sale on the secondary market. Many collectors believe that this guitar never went into production and that these models do not exist. Had Ibanez moved forward with production of this guitar, you can bet that Ryoji Matsuoka would have been the one making them. So what you have here is essentially an Ibanez Mastercraft GA1000 that Ryoji Matsuoka produced under his own label. It is impossible to date the build of this guitar using the serial number on the label, but the neck block is stamped 840204, so I am using that to date the guitar at 1984. (That time frame makes sense since this would be the year after Ibanez was supposed to produce them.)

This guitar is a beauty. I tried my best to capture the beauty of this guitar in the pictures, but I just couldn't accomplish it. The guitar is virtually flawless except for a small chip (pictured) in the binding to the left of the soundhole. Anything else you see in the pictures is just a reflection. This guitar plays and sounds as good as it looks. This guitar plays and sounds as good as it looks. Solid Spruce top, solid Rosewood back, laminated Rosewood sides and Ebony fingerboard.
