Martin D-28 Scalloped 1944

This guitar is on consignment from the son of the original owner. Purchased new by the original owner in 1944, the guitar was embellished by the original owner.  The guitar has plastic decorations with rhinestones embedded in the plastic that have been glued on to the top and headstock. We do not know what type of glue was used and at the request of the original owner’s son, we have not attempted to remove them. One of the plastic decorations has fallen off and a picture of the area on the top where the decoration was is included. There are also remnants of old glue on the back brace that we assume once held another of the decorations.

Other than the plastic decorations the guitar is in great shape and sounds amazing. All original, with Brazilian rosewood back and sides. No breaks, cracks or previous repairs that we could find. There is some finish checking and scratches to the back. The frets are in good shape. The saddle has been shaved down, the action is on the high side and a neck reset sometime in the future will be necessary.
