Vox Apollo IV 1967 3 color Sunburst

Vintage 1967 Vox Apollo IV Bass, Italian made, in great condition!  Comes with original case.  

Plays great, tuners work and dont stick or slip.  Pots are all clean with little scratching. Electronics also work, except for the E tuner.  Fuzz, Bass Boost and Treble boost all work. Also has the VOX bridge cover and wooden VOX insert at the tailpiece.  The pickguard is a new reproduction and is missing the side clip for it.  Includes the original rear pad and it also has the plastic cover over the electronics access hole.  Strap buttons are original and tight.  Im also including a repro vintage strap with a metal buckle!  Frets are all original and in great shape, especially for a bass approaching 50 years old!

The front side of the bass looks perfect.  No checking or any signs of damage.  Rear shows a few flaws... 
The biggest is a ding on the rear of the headstock, opposite side of the tuners.  An attempt has been made to repair it, but not very successful.  Also some large finish checking cracks where the padded cover snaps to the body.  The wood and body are not damaged.  All the cracks and checks are in the finish, except for the aforementioned ding on the rear of the headstock. 

I added a battery clip (screwed to an inside brace inside the access hole) so the battery doesn't rattle around inside while playing.  A design flaw for these guitars is the battery is always in the circuit, whether plugged in or not.  So battery life is greatly reduced.  There are some other finish checks and cracks, and i photographed as best i could.

Original teardrop case as well!  Solid plywood construction and in decent shape, but a few tears in the covering at the edges.  Hinges all work flawless as well as the latches.  Good and tight and wont pop open.  However, the locking latches have all been damaged and removed.  The handle is also missing and has been replaced with a metal coathanger type thing, wrapped with padding and electrical tape.  -does the trick, but cheesy.

Inside is a bright happy yellow, with no rips or tears in the fabric.  The accessory door is also there and works fine.

Overall, this is a GREAT bass in great shape.  Mostly all original and includes many of the items usually missing from these guitars, including the cool case.  The bass boost with the fuzz instantly turns you into Jack Bruce!  Get it while you can!!
