About This Listing

Description below from the original listing back in October of 2022 - I purchased this and have not used it as much as I had hoped:

This was *JUST* completely serviced (as of October 2022).  Caps and pots replaced, all the circuitry cleaned, bad connections re-soldered, and it is working as well as when it was made decades ago!  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Amazing keyboard. If you know you know. Nigel and Radiohead used and toured these for ages, it's prominent in a few Gorillaz and Beck tracks as well. Very unique sounds and straightforward to use, making it awesome in a live setting as well as a studio. The keys are a good size and weight - as a pianist I really appreciate a good feel to any set of keys (none of those tiny synth keys for me thank you very much).  Absolute beast for songwriting.  Pretty rare. The last one sold here for upwards of 700.  Drum machine and sounds all in tact. It's got speaker out outputs as well as headphones out. I love combining multiple drumbeats at the same time and running it through delay/reverb for really creative unique sounding beats!

This unit is sturdy as hell - thin metal chassis, but there are definitely some areas with cracks and scuff marks. None of the damage effects how it plays or sounds.  I have the original carrying case, which is in pretty poor condition.  There's old dried paint and scuffs on it and a tear in one spot, but still does the job.

The Baldwin Discoverer DS-50 came out in mid/late 70s (pre-MIDI) and features  control over the synth sounds plus a built in drum machine.

The auto-accompany can be turned on or off and split at the keyboard (rhythm vs melody). There's a built in speaker that can be bypassed using the audio outs. This makes it easy to implement in your home studio and essentially a more robust and useable Omni-chord - type songwriting tool. The DS-50 is made of metal and really well constructed. Power cord and cover is included.
