According to Stefan Peuss:
"We started with TLM 170 in 1983 fitting the first series with purple badges because of P48 powering. After a while we decided to distinguish the 'TLM' series by taking a red logo which since then is asigning TransformerLess Microphone circuitries. 
No technical changes have been made by this measure. Delivery dates of microphone #513: January 1985".

This mic lists new for $3200.


I bought it when a large studio was going out of business in 2003, and have kept it in a sealed and padded case (along with a few other TLM-170 mics!). I'm expanding the variety of my LDC collection, which is the reason I'm selling this one off. I used it during a video shoot to make sure it was functional, and it sounded as good as ever!
