S9 Serial Number (used in 1979, 1981 and 1982), 1981 Potentiometer Codes (13781XX) and a 1982 Neck Date. 

So, I guess we’ll call this a very early ‘82? 

This is one of the very last CBS Stratocasters manufactured before Dan Smith took over overseeing production and design at Fender. 

Our example is 100% original and has had no mods, no repairs and no breaks…completely story free. The only knock on this instrument are chips in the paint on the lower bout of the guitar body towards the rear along with a few other dings. Perfectly normal for a 40+ year old guitar that has been played and loved by it’s original owner, of whom we acquired this guitar from. This is the Strat your mother warned you about.  The case works perfectly once you finagle the right latch closed. There no cracks in the case.

The rosewood fingerboard has a killer and visually appealing grain pattern. The front of the maple headstock shows some slight, yet beautiful birdseye. The Ash body also has a stunning grain pattern. 

Word is starting to get out on how great the late seventies Strats are. This one is a beast all around. Weight: 9.4lbs
